Matt Cassel not focused on possible Chiefs QB switch

Cassel said, "It starts with me."

It's going to be a long week if you're the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs like Matt Cassel is. People are talking about his status as the starter -- Romeo Crennel talks about it, his teammates are asked about it and of course Arrowhead Pride readers are writing about it.

So, does that bother Cassel?

"I have tunnel vision," the Chiefs QB said on Wednesday, via comments sent out by the Chiefs. " I go out and try to get better each and every day. I know as the quarterback of this team that I've got to do a better job of taking care of the football. That comes first. I take responsibility for that.

"I think the thing is we all need to take better care of the football, and if we do, then we'll be in more of these football games and we'll be a better football team because of it. It starts with me, like I said, and I'm working each and every day to get better, and I will get better."

Romeo Crennel actually talked about what happens when a quarterback switch is needed so it's not as if this would come out of the blue if it did happen. And, let's face it: the Ravens defense is really, really good. The Chiefs quarterback would be in a tough spot whoever it was.

Brady Quinn said his reps on Wednesday were the "exact same" as they were before. Cassel, for his part, is handling this right. He said every other sentence or so (it seemed) that his goal was protecting the football, and that's his top priority. He said he's not looking over his shoulder at Quinn and that he can't be bothered by Romeo at least leaving the door open for a switch.

It's gonna be an interesting Sunday.
