The latest rumor about the Kansas City Chiefs won't change the course of this season but it's a good one. A really good one.
Kevin Harlan appeared on 810 WHB this week and passed along this rumor from a scout:
"At the beginning of last year, there was a real push by Todd Haley to go after Matt Hasselbeck," Harlan said. "In no uncertain terms he was told no by management."
The source told Harlan that was very disappointing to Haley.
Hasselbeck signed a three-year, $20 million deal with the Titans after the lockout ended that year.
If this is true...wow.
Think back to that time period. Cassel was coming off a Pro Bowl season, his best as a Chief. I'm guessing then that Hasselbeck would've been a backup, a "luxury" backup Harlan called it. The Haley-Pioli stuff hadn't come up yet. It's very interesting, considering what we know now, that Haley wanted Hasselbeck.
Would you have taken Hasselbeck back then?
