Chiefs injury report: Matt Cassel misses; Kendrick Lewis a full participant

The Chiefs could be without their starting quarterback this weekend.

The Kansas City Chiefs initial injury report Tampa Bay Buccaneers week has 10 players listed, including Matt Cassel, who did not practice. Romeo Crennel talked about the injured guys earlier today but now the full injury report is out.

Did not practice: Matt Cassel, Glenn Dorsey, Peyton Hillis

This is what we expected. Cassel will need to be cleared by doctors. This is not his decision and it's not a "toughness" thing. But I wouldn't count on him playing. The Chiefs fared OK without Dorsey last weekend so his presence is perhaps not as important as I thought. Hillis has been out two straight games so we don't know where he stands.

Limited practice: Ryan Lilja, Jon Baldwin, Shaun Draughn

Nothing too concerning here. Lilja has been on the injury report for a few weeks now. Baldwin was on the injury report last week but played the most snaps of the season. Draughn is a new addition this week, getting his ankle rolled up last weekend.

Full practice: Jalil Brown, Kendrick Lewis, Ropati Pitoitua

Kendrick! The Chiefs safety hasn't played since injuring his shoulder in the preseason but this looks like the week if he's a full participant. Also big news it that Pitoitua, who missed last week's game, appears ready to return.

Could be worse on the injury front.
