We all know that it's very hard to win games when you turn the ball over. The KC Chiefs know this and that's usually one of the top keys to our weekly previews in the upcoming week.
But for the Chiefs maybe we should change that to "You can't keep the game competitive when you turn it over SIX times!"
Six turnovers is so ridiculous that it almost seems like a victory that the Chiefs only lost by 17 points.
Following the game, the Chargers were asked: Do you ever remember a game where you created six turnovers?
Norv Turner
"I can't. The thing I liked about the turnovers was that we created a lot of them through our physical play. Obviously, we had a chance at a couple more. I challenged the one that was close. If you're going to be successful in this league, you have to disrupt the quarterback. That's the starting point, I believe. If you can do that you have a chance to be a good defensive football team."
Philip Rivers
"I don't know that I can recall. The one that comes to mind is the Indianapolis Colts one year. That was a rare dive where we had six interceptions against the Colts. Other than that I can't recall."
Eric Weddle
"No, I'm trying to think. It was just turnover after turnover after turnover in the first quarter. In the second, we got that touchdown. It's just guys running to the ball, playing together, assignment sound, technique sound and playing with effort. A lot of times it's just guys running to the ball, getting on those fumbles and making good hits. It's a good performance. Obviously there's stuff to improve, but we came back after last week and not playing the way we wanted to, played well, got a lot of turnovers and got the win. That's all that matters."
