So now that the Kansas City Chiefs have announced a few coaching moves it's time for an update on where we stand with the coaching staff. Romeo Crennel told the KC Star last week it could be a week or two before it's all said and done so we could have some time on our hands.
As far as I can tell, the Chiefs have three positions that are not filled: offensive coordinator, receivers and assistant offensive line coach. They don't necessarily have to fill all of those (like assistant offensive line).
As you know, we really have no idea where the Chiefs are in the search for a new offensive coordinator. Brian Daboll (Miami Dolphins) has been mentioned. The Chiefs reportedly liked Mike Sherman before he was hired in Miami. Really, though, we don't know of any candidates at this point.
Offensive coaches on staff: Jim Zorn (quarterbacks), Bill Muir (offensive line), Bernie Parmalee (tight ends), Nick Sirianni (offensive quality control) and Maurice Carthon (assistant head coach).
Defensively, things are pretty much intact. The Chiefs website lists Crennel's title as "Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator" so I guess that's official. He already said he hopes to keep the defensive staff intact and it looks like that should happen.
Defensive coaches on staff: Romeo Crennel (defensive coordinator), Gary Gibbs (linebackers), Anthony Pleasant (defensive line), Emmitt Thomas (defensive backs), Adam Zimmer (defensive assistant/assistant linebackers) and Otis Smith (defensive quality control).
Special teams is a lot easier: Steve Hoffman is gone and Tom McMahon is the new special teams coach.
