About a year ago at this time the Kansas City Chiefs were looking for a new offensive coordinator. And one of the names the KC Star's Kent Babb brought up was Mike McCoy, the Denver Broncos offensive coordinator. Babb indicated back then that the job likely would've been his if he wanted it.
Fast forward a year and the Chiefs might be looking for another offensive coordinator. Bill Muir reportedly "likely" to retire and McCoy's name is again being brought up as a potential candidate.
Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports that the Chiefs could be interested in McCoy if they're unable to get Josh McDaniels, who is still under contract with the Rams (and it sounds like the Rams want to keep him). La Canfora brings up the "coach-in-waiting" idea as well. McCoy could even get some head coaching looks this year.
So we've now heard two names -- McDaniels and McCoy -- linked to a job that, at this point, isn't even available. And both those guys are employed by other teams....the NFL rumormill sure is moving fast this year.
