The Chicago Bears have now interviewed five candidates for their vacant general manager position after firing Jerry Angelo shortly after the regular season ended. One of those candidates is the Kansas City Chiefs director of college scouting, Phil Emery.
And at least a couple of people believe he's the current favorite for the job. (Let's push aside the fact that every coach/GM search has about a dozen "favorites" before they decide on someone.)
Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times cites two league sources who say they have a hunch that Emery is the favorite.
Emery was with the Atlanta Falcons before landing with the Chiefs in GM Scott Pioli's first year in Kansas City. He was an area scout with the Bears back in the late '90s and early '00s so that's his Chicago connection.
