Earlier this week Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles tweeted out a picture of some special cleats and gloves commemorating 9/11. Reebok created them and sent them out to several players, including Charles.
I've been spending my morning trying to figure out whether the cleats and gloves are meant to actually be worn in the game or whether it's just a commemorative edition for Charles to keep or give away. The NFL, as many of you know, is generally pretty strict with their uniform policy.
We finally have an answer. NFL rep Michael Signora tweets: "NFL confirmed to clubs this morning that players may wear special shoes & gloves from NFL licensees for Week 1 games."
Will Charles actually wear them? We'll have to find out on Sunday.
Take a look at the cleats and gloves in the photo. They look really, really awesome.
