The Kansas City Chiefs first injury report of the 2011 NFL season is in and we have two players listed -- QB Matt Cassel and WR Jonathan Baldwin. Out of 53 players, that only two are listed is a good thing.
But one of those players is arguably the most important player on the team.
Cassel was listed as a full participant in practice with a rib injury while Baldwin is listed as a did not practice with a thumb injury. I believe this is the first time the Chiefs have recognized the specific body parts that were injured with both of these guys.
We've already noted that just about everyone expects Cassel to play, including Cassel himself, Todd Haley and even Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey. So expect to see him out there.
Baldwin's a different story. We're not sure if he'll be ready on Sunday. Haley says players generally have to practice to play so, through one day, Baldwin's not on pace to play.
The Chiefs will have another injury report on Thursday and then on Friday they'll list these guys as probable, questionable, doubtful or out.
