So by now everyone's heard the breaking news in the NFL that the status of QB Peyton Manning for the 2011 season is...unknown. We don't really know what's going on but a radio report out of Indianapolis suggested Manning's neck injury could keep him out of Week 1, and possibly longer.
If Manning's injury is serious enough to cause him to miss games, it could affect the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5 which is pretty early in the season.
No one seems to know exactly what's going on but several credible NFL reporters now believe Manning will miss the first week of the season. CBS Sports Mike Freeman reported that there was a "serious concern" that Manning could miss four to five games, or more.
The Colts have released a statement indicating that Manning's recovery time is "unpredictable" right now.
No one wants to see a player hurt, especially a player like Manning. But if he does miss time -- like the first four weeks of the season -- then the Chiefs game against the Colts in Week 5 becomes much more winnable.
Our Colts blog, Stampede Blue, has a flurry of activity this morning. Hop on over and check out what they're saying.
