Vikings, Chiefs Coaches Talk About Jared Allen

Minnesota Vikings DE Jared Allen is off to a fairly incredible start with 4.5 sacks and an interception through three games. Not that we didn't expect that -- Allen has at least 11 sacks in the last four years, and at least 14.5 in three of the last four years -- but he's going to be one of the focal points on Sunday.

Both Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley and Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier spent a few minutes on Wednesday talking about Allen and what he can do.

Haley said several times he's a big fan of what Allen has done and can do.

"Like I said, I just can't say enough about the guy and just how he plays the game. He's a guy that coming out probably wasn't an obvious choice for somebody that would be a star. Sometimes in this league you see guys that have something special inside and he clearly did and does and he's kind of grown into that, even physically, and that makes him pretty scary to look at when you've got to line up and play against him. He's the heart of their defense from everything that I see and as you watch the tape, the other guys feed off of that energy..."

Frazier says he could tell back in training camp the type of commitment Allen had this year.

"Yeah, he's playing at a high level versus the run. He's doing a great job of rushing the passer. I don't think you can ask for a whole lot more. He's doing a terrific job of leading our team in the locker room. He's really stepped up in all areas. It's just good for our team."

don't plan on booing him but if he racks up a couple more sacks, I just might have to.
