The Kansas City Chiefs may have just caught a big break.
According to a report from Pro Football Talk, San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates will not play against the Chiefs on Sunday.
If accurate, this is a big break for the Chiefs. Along with WR Vincent Jackson and RB Mike Tolbert, Gates is one of the most dangerous receiving options for the Chargers. The loss of S Eric Berry has made many Chiefs fans worried about covering the tight end and no Gates would make that job much easier.
I'm not saying this means the Chiefs are all of a sudden favored in this game -- they're still a big underdog -- but it is a good break for KC. Gates seems to always play a factor in the Chiefs-Chargers games.
Gates was originally listed questionable after not practicing all week so we knew there was a chance he wouldn't play. That said, and with all due respect to Pro Football Talk, we can't be 100 percent sure this is accurate until the Chargers inactive list comes out at 1:35 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) on Sunday.
