We have 9 more days until we kick off the season against the Bills. So far I have really liked what we have done--for the most part. We picked up some good players, had a decent draft, a nice camp, and a preseason full of evaluation. What are your biggest fears headed into the game against the Bills? I just hope we can keep onto the ball.
There wasn't too many stories this week outside of the two preseason games. There were some roster moves and cuts this week as well. If you missed some news this week please follow along. We can talk about Curley Culp, look at our offensive line, and figure out why the Broncos are trying to be more like the Chiefs. As always there are some fanshots and fanposts to highlight. I also have a nice story to go over that happened one year ago today.
Five Biggest Stories
1. Chiefs Vs. Packers: Green Bay Downs Kansas City At Lambeau Field 20-19
This game is a prime example on what turnovers will do to a team. We dominated outside if those turnovers. The defense was pretty nice and Flowers looked really good. I'm excited to move on to some real football. I wonder what players we will pick up after the big cuts from teams?
2. Chiefs Drop Third Straight Preseason Game To The Rams
I really wanted the Governor's Cup! The game was pretty unbearable to watch and at times out team looked lost. However, I did like what I saw from a couple of the players. That is what preseason is about right? Getting to see stuff from players that might not make the team? I'm not concerned to losing all 4 games in the preseason though.
3. Chiefs Roster Cuts Begin With Seven Players Waived
There really wasn't that many surprises with this round of cuts. If you missed who we cut or are too lazy to click the link I'll do the dirty work here. We cut LB Eric Bakhtiari, RB Tervaris Johnson, DB Javes Lewis, WR Chris Manno, WR Josue Paul, DB Mario Rus, and WR Chandler Williams.
4. Chiefs Get Down To 80 Players With Two Roster Moves
There isn't a real surprise on these moves either. We released K Todd Carter and moved OT Ryan O'Callaghan to Injury Reserve. Tomorrow, the Chiefs will have to cut the roster down to 53 players. There might even be more released to make room for other team's "trash". It will be busy around the NFL tomorrow.
5. Former Chief Curley Culp Among Senior Hall of Fame Recommendations
There are probably a lot of you like I was who doesn't know who Curley Culp is. He played for the Chiefs for 7 years and with the Oilers for 7 years. He was a NT for Hank Stram and elected to five Pro Bowls. He is currently in the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Honor. This would be a huge honor for another former Chief to get into the Hall of Fame.
In Case You Missed It...
1. The State of the Chiefs: Grading Kansas City Chief’s Defensive Line
This is a nice little article by our very own Jon Yoon. I think he is pretty spot on about the grade and current state of our defensive line. If you missed it then please give this a look. It really is a good read.
2. Now The Denver Broncos Are Starting To Get It
I honestly don't think mentioning the Broncos should take up space in my weekly but this was just too good to pass up. This was kind of lost in all the game day talk yesterday. Finally, the Broncos are trying to model their team/stadium to be like the better team/stadium.
Fanpost Of The Week
Preseason Chiefs Vs Rams: Breaking Down The O-Line Tape by Bewsaf
I had a defensive post and it's nice to have an offensive post too. I really missed these types of posts by Bewsaf. Hopefully, we can see more in the future. I'm sure most of you read this since it has a million comments and recs. That is for good reason because we have some of the best posters here at Arrowhead Pride. Thanks Bewsaf!
Fanshot Of The Week
Chiefs Practice August 30th posted by kc571
Thank you kc571 for posting so everyone can see! There are some really great pictures posted by the Star then re-posted in the fanshots. Baldwin just looks so ripped. Let's hope he doesn't cause or help cause with anymore disturbances.
One Year Ago Today...
Next Stop For The Chiefs: Chargers On Monday Night Football
Wow, we just came off a big preseason win against the Packers. We had everything to prove in our home against the "AFC West Champs". Now, we are coming off a big preseason loss against the Packers. We still have everything to prove at our house against a "weaker" Bills teams. Amazing what changes yet still stays the same.
