Our nightmare scenario is real: Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles tore his ACL in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, which will end his season. This, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who reports Charles will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the injury.
Counting TE Tony Moeaki and S Eric Berry, this is the third torn ACL that has ended a Chiefs player's season.
I can't put into words what this means. I just can't. Charles is, in my mind, the most important player on the Chiefs roster. More important than QB Matt Cassel and S Eric Berry. He is the engine that keeps it all going.
Totally and utterly devastating. The Chiefs have been outscored 89-10 in the last two games but, for me, there's a feeling that they still have the longest of long shots to be competitive this season, if Charles is on the field.
But, according to Schefter's report, Charles won't be on the field. A torn ACL would land him on injured reserve.
I just....I just don't know. Wow.
