We saw a lot of bad football in Kansas City from 2007-2009 but I'm not sure we ever saw something like this. Embarrassing. Pathetic. Unprepared.
All those words describe what the Kansas City Chiefs put on the field against the Detroit Lions in yet another blowout loss, 48-3.
The Chiefs played well early in the game, running the ball well and holding the Lions offense at bay. But then reality set in, RB Jamaal Charles was hurt, the Chiefs turned it over six times and QB Matthew Stafford decided to throw four touchdown passes.
Oh, and Gunther Cunningham got a Gatorade bath. Ugh.
This isn't just a bad game. This is the fourth consecutive system failure. 31-10 to Oakland in Week 17, 31-7 to Baltimore in the playoffs, 41-7 to the Bills last week and now 48-3 to the Lions.
What's worse is that Charles was injured. We're not sure the severity of the injury, but it certainly looked like a bad one.
The Chiefs have a major problem here. The finger needs to be pointed at Todd Haley, GM Scott Pioli and the players. A system failure like this isn't just a bad day, or an off day. It's a complete meltdown and those in charge need to be blamed.
How are they going to fix it?
