Believe it or not, the final score in the Buffalo Bills game may not be the worst thing that happened to the Kansas City Chiefs today. Standout safety Eric Berry was hurt in the game with an apparent left knee injury and didn't return.
We don't know what the injury is but we're hoping it's not serious.
Berry went down on the Bills first drive with what appeared at the time to be cramps. Later in the first half, Berry went down again and the way the trainers tended to him it again appeared to be cramps.
But after the second time he went down, he left the field and went to the locker room. He didn't return to the game. He came back to the sidelines later in the game with a big wrap on his left knee.
The Chiefs, per their usual policy, didn't say anything about the injury but we're hoping it's not serious.
Berry's absence from the game was pretty obvious as TE Scott Chandler ripped the Chiefs up for a pair of touchdowns. (Then again, the way this game went Berry's presence would not have made a difference.)
A serious injury to Berry would make this game go from bad to near-devastating.
