The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills will kick off the 2011 NFL season at 12:00 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) today and if you're a new reader, we always offer up five predictions before the game. Yes, I'm a total homer and my predictions usually favor the Chiefs.
Here are my five predictions. Give us yours in the comments.
Chiefs offense passes 200 yards on the ground. That's clearly the Chiefs focus on offense and despite the Bills doing what they can do stop the run, Jamaal Charles and Co. put up 200-plus on the ground. They went for 274 yards on the ground against Buffalo last year and, while I don't think they get that high, I do think they pass 200 yards.
WR Dwayne Bowe gets a touchdown through the air. Bowe will score in this game and continue his hot streak from last year. He lead the league with 15 touchdown receptions last year and he gets off on the right foot this time. The Bills will be doing what they can do stop the run and Bowe will make them pay at some point.
Chiefs defense will get three sacks today. The tackles aren't very strong and LB Tamba Hali is one of the best in the business. LB Justin Houston will be out there a little bit wreaking havoc as well. The Chiefs combine for three sacks today and Romeo Crennel smiles.
Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has a good day. Chan Gailey has a way of making quarterbacks look better than they are and that trend continues with Fitzpatrick putting up nearly 300 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs defense holds strong in the red zone but Fitzpatrick will sling it today.
Chiefs win. What, you thought I'm going to pick against our team at Arrowhead? I'm going with 17-10, Chiefs.
