It was reportedly yesterday that S James Sanders, who was released by the New England Patriots earlier this week, was scheduled to visit the Kansas City Chiefs. (Or another scenario is his agent leaking that information simply to put pressure on Atlanta.) That is, he was visiting the Chiefs only if he didn't sign a deal with the Atlanta Falcons, where he was visiting yesterday.

Bad news for those of you who wanted Sanders. He signed a one-year deal with the Falcons.

Sanders was released by New England and quickly made a trip schedule for Atlanta and Kansas City. Both cities are run by guys that used to be with Sanders in New England. That makes it pretty clear that the front office staff in New England through pretty highly of Sanders.

Alas, he won't be a Chief. But we should keep players like him in mind over the next few days as more and more players are released before the big cut down day on Saturday when teams must go from 80 to 53 players. There will be plenty of more surprises like Sanders getting the ax.
