Update: The cuts have started.
NFL roster cuts are a little more than a day away. The Kansas City Chiefs will need to trim their roster to 80 players by 3:00 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) on Tuesday so the Chiefs have about 30 hours until they need to start cutting players.
The Chiefs roster currently sits at 89 players which means nine will be gone by Tuesday afternoon. With three preseason games played, they probably have a good idea of who these cuts will be.
I've taken a look at the latest depth chart and plucked nine players who I think could be the cuts (which is obviously just a guess at this point). Some of the players just weren't good enough and some of the players are in an impossible position considering who's ahead of them at that position.
Here's my guess at the nine cuts: WR Josue Paul; G Lucas Patterson; G/T Chris Harr; WR Zeke Markshausen; FB Tervaris Johnson; DE Amon Gordon; CB Demond Washington; CB Mario Russell; and CB Javes Lewis.
The Chiefs signed over a dozen undrafted free agents and they'll probably keep just a few at most so many of my first round of cuts include those undrafted guys. We'lll probably see a surprise cut or two that includes an unexpected veteran cut -- we're surprised by at least one cut every year -- so keep an eye out for those surprises.
Here's the latest Chiefs depth chart. Which players are getting a visit from the turk tomorrow?
