Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you guys are as hyped up about the Governor's Cup as I am.  I'm not sure how long the starters are going to play but it is the 3rd game--meaning they should play longer.  What are you guys most looking forward to seeing tonight?  Anyways, not that much news this week either besides a new signing and a player being placed on IR.

If you were busy like me playing the Madden 12 demo and obsessing over the release on Tuesday then follow along for something you might have missed.  We can recap the loss to the Ravens, the Baldwin-Jones fight, and our favorite past player Larry Johnson--I hope you noticed the sarcasm.  As always there were some nice posts by you guys.  Follow along to find out who got the fanpost/fanshot of the week.

Five Biggest Stories

1. Chiefs Vs. Ravens Final: Kansas City Loses To Baltimore 31-13

I honestly did expect to lose to the Ravens.  It is preseason and I looked at how the Chiefs handled their first game against the Buccaneers.  I was however amazed on how well our first string defense played.  Hopefully, we see more of that throughout the season.  I really don't have a comment about the "running up" of the score at the end.  I just think that people on both sides of the issue should stop overreacting.  It is football fellas, let's be glad it will be played this year.

2. Chiefs Confirm Brandon Siler To IR, Anthony Becht Signed

It is always sad to see an injury especially to a player that is on his first year with his respective team.  Luckily, our LB spot is pretty crowded and I think we will overcome an injury.  Get well soon Mr. Siler.  I haven't really paid attention to Anthony Becht throughout his career.  I have heard that name and I knew of him though.  I'm not sure if that's because I follow football a lot or play Madden too much.  I'm not really sure what to think of our TE's at this point though.  Good luck into making the team Mr. Becht.

3. Rams-Chiefs Game Will Benefit The Joplin Rebuild

I just love stories like this regardless if it involves the Chiefs organization or not--just a bonus that it does.  If you are going to the game tonight remember you can donate money to the Joplin rebuild as you walk through the gates.  Also, some of the people involved with the Chiefs organization will be wearing their Joplin t-shirts in honor of the city.  The Governor's Cup is more than bragging rights this year.  It is about a city in Missouri and the hardships of the all the friends and family.  It goes to show you that Chiefs football is more than just playing on Sundays.  It is about the Chiefs Nation.

4. Chiefs Address Jonathan Baldwin-Thomas Jones Situation (Not Really)

I'm really not going to say too much on this issue since it has awaken the dead horse from it's coma.  This is one topic that I think the media has overblown by a lot.  We as fans really don't know what happened.  Is Baldwin or Jones to blame?  Are they both at fault here?  It is a coaches situation?  I think that stuff like this happens more than we know about with every team.  This time an injury resulted hence the media storm.

5. Larry Johnson Is Back In The NFL

I want to be the very first to congratulate Miami for not only signing one of the best RB's of all time but also tempting him with the beautiful club life.  You will be amazed on how much effort he puts into the drinks he orders nightly.  You will also be dumbfounded like the Bengals and Redskins were.  Washington wasn't ready for his 5 carries for 2 yards.  They couldn't contain the women from just "disappearing" from his hotel rooms.  Miami you are one city that can truly handle all that is Larry Alphonso Johnson Jr.

In Case You Missed It...

1. The Matt Cassel Report Card

This is a weekly series that I really can't wait to see more of.  It is a shame that we have to wait for Flowers24's genius after every game.  It is something that is pretty unique and something the haters can be shown.  Even though I don't think that will matter much since haters gonna hate.

2. Checking in on the Bills

Steve_Chiefs is once again checking in on the Bills for us.  This is something that I find really important especially approaching week 1.  I honestly think the Chiefs are just going to dominate the Bills and I'm putting my homer beliefs aside.  The Bills don't have an offense line and our defense are going to feast.  Stevie Johnson will be upset he can't do his TD dance.

Fanpost Of The Week

Hail to THE Chief by upamtn

I'm not going to really give away upamtn's masterpiece here.  If you haven't read it then please click on the link.  It gives us a nice little history lesson about the team that we love.

Fanshot Of The Week

Powe vs Screen Pass by bfett81

This fanshot is pretty new but just too awesome not to get the fanshot of the week.  Thanks bfett for showing us more of one of our favorite rookies.  Powe is just a beast--enough said.

One Year Ago Today...

Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel Is Trying To Get Mad

This is an interesting article and shows how far Cassel's development has come.  Last year, Cassel stated he tried to be more serious and cut out the joking.  Cassel don't change who you are.  We love the leader that sings Backstreet Boys and is a best friend with Kenny Powers.
