I was talking with Steven St. John, Nate Bukaty and Aaron Schwartz on 810 WHB's Border Patrol this morning and they were all wondering the same thing I was:

Where the heck is Justin Houston?

The Chiefs third round pick has yet to arrive at camp and, as is the Chiefs policy, no one with the club is talking about it.

Neither side is talking so we're left to our own to guess what's going on but I just don't get it. With the new rookie pay system, there's little room for negotiation, except for guaranteed money, bonuses and things like that. We just don't know and I'm of the thinking that he's hurting himself more than he's helping, even if he gets whatever contract he wants.

As SSJ noted on 810 WHB, Houston had a legitimate shot to earn the outside linebacker job at some point this season. We're only four days into camp so we won't act like he can't still do that but it's becoming more unlikely with each passing day.

First impressions do matter in a town like Kansas City. We saw QB Peyton Manning tell the team and his agent, publicly, to get his contract done.

Maybe it's time Houston does the same.
