Good morning! Here is today's Kansas City Chiefs news. No practice today. Enjoy.
"No," defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel said simply when asked whether he was satisfied with the pass rush as currently constituted. "Tamba’s not here."As soon as Tamba gets here, my pass rush will improve."
Hali, the AFC’s sack leader last year with 14 1/2 , isn’t the only missing piece. Wallace Gilberry, second on the Chiefs in sacks with seven last season, signed his restricted free-agent contract but can’t begin to practice until Thursday.
Third-round draft pick Justin Houston, an accomplished pass rusher in college at Georgia, is unsigned and not in camp.

Jackson has had folks around the Chiefs wondering at times how much football really meant to him. Oh, he put in the work, like he did during the 2010 off-season program where he was a constant presence in the Chiefs facility. It’s just that the flame burning inside of him was seldom visible. That’s why the Chiefs were so happy after the lockout came to an end to see Jackson walk back into the building in what appeared to be the best shape of his life.

Rookie NT Jerrell Powe had some nice moments in both drills. Powe showed great penetration when he split the A-gap between C Darryl Harris and RG Jon Asamoah. He also showed a bit of a pass rush, getting past both Harris and Rodney Hudson. He certainly got defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel excited at several points and he yelled encouragement to his big man.Training Camp Practice Report - 8/1 from Bob Gretz
Cameron Sheffield continues to impress with his ability to bounce back from a frightening neck injury that cost him his entire rookie season. Thus far, Sheffield has participated in every aspect of practice, including Tuesday’s contact period that focused on pass rush technique. Heartland Health Practice Report: 8/1/11 from The Mothership
Q: How much more comfortable are you as the head coach of this team?
HALEY: "I think I probably said it very early on that this particular job, you can’t train for it. Experience is what it’s all about. Each and every day that I go through, my number one goal has been to learn from the experiences and try to be better."

It's time we air out the Kansas City Chiefs fantasy laundry.
The last time head coach Todd Haley ran an offense, the Arizona Cardinals finished second in passing yards per game (292.1 pass YPG) in 2008...
...This could be a blessing for fantasy owners tempted to take a chance on Matt Cassel in 2011.

It make sense that the Chiefs are pursuing Warren. He played for Kansas City general manager Scott Pioli and Chiefs’ defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel in New England. Warren is a quiet professional who could help a growing defense like the Chiefs.Report: Chiefs Pursuing Ty Warren from ESPN

Kansas City: Umenyiora would make the Chiefs’ defense deadly. But the Chiefs have to pay Tamba Hali, who led the AFC with 14.5 sacks last year, at some point. He is their franchise player. If there is any way the Chiefs could pay both players and get Umenyiora for a second-rounder, it’d be a great move.Would Umenyiora Fit in the AFC West? from ESPN
