We've had a number of folks ask when NFL roster cuts are coming so I figured this deserved a front-page post.
The training camp roster max is 90 players, which is 10 more than it has been in previous years. On Aug. 30, the Chiefs will need to get down to 75 players, as will every other team. On Sept. 3, the Chiefs will need to get down to 53 players, as will every other team.
That means in just a few weeks there will be a major glut in the free agency market of available players. It's always an interesting time because there will undoubtedly be a surprise cut or two (or three) from not only the Chiefs but other teams as well.
When looking at the roster, it's harder to pinpoint which guys should be let go during the cut down period. This is a good thing because it means the bottom of the Chiefs roster is getting better. They still have a ways to go but 1-53 on the roster is a lot better now than it was in 2009.
So your key dates to remember -- Aug. 30 and Sept. 3.
