If you've been following the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency this year then you might have noticed GM Scott Pioli signing three players from the Baltimore Ravens. First it was NT Kelly Gregg then FB Le'Ron McClain and finally OT Jared Gaither.
We wondered whether this was intentional considering the Ravens had beat the Chiefs up just last January in the wildcard round of the playoffs.
So was signing players specifically from the Ravens done purposefully? Or was it just a coincidence?
"Yeah, I think it's a coincidence," Todd Haley said in his Monday press conference (via KCChiefs.com). "Now again, if you're able to acquire players that you think can fit with what you're doing and they're coming from teams that are winning type teams, I think that's a good thing, whether that had much influence or not, I wouldn't put too much weight on it."
So that's that.
When the Chiefs go out and look for players, I would guess that having success and coming from a winning organization and philosophy is part of the ultimate package they're looking for in a player. It certainly can't hurt to bring in players who clearly understand the winning mentality.
