Chiefs' Barry Richardson Signs His Tender

The Kansas City Chiefs officially have offensive tackle Barry Richardson under contract. Richardson, the Chiefs 2008 sixth round pick, signed his restricted free agent tender, according to the Mothership. So Richardson is now officially under contract and he can practice with the team on Aug. 4.

Richardson had a second round tender meaning anyone that wanted to sign him would have to give up a second round pick.

He started all 16 games at right tackle and will compete, for now, with OT Ryan O'Callaghan for the starting job. It would appear that the Chiefs do have some interest in bringing in competition at right tackle so his starting job isn't secure by any means.

This leaves CB Brandon Carr as the lone unsigned restricted free agent (actually, WR Kevin Curtis is has a right of first refusal tender on him, too). We haven't heard any rumblings of him not signing so I'm expecting him to sign by Wednesday until we hear otherwise.
