Chiefs' Quinten Lawrence Apparently Now A Defensive Back

The Kansas City Chiefs issued jersey numbers to their 2011 NFL draft picks and undrafted free agents this week. There weren't any big surprises on the list -- not sure what would qualify as a "surprise" with jersey numbers -- but there was one interesting note.

The Chiefs roster on KCChiefs.com now lists Quinten Lawrence as a defensive back. He came to the Chiefs in the 2009 draft as a receiver out of McNeese State. He also switched to No. 31, a defensive back number.

What's interesting is that this move was probably hinted at before the lockout began. That's because at the Chiefs player-only practice last June, Lawrence was lined up as a defensive back so he knew something about it then.

His bio on KCChiefs.com notes he did play some defensive back at McNeese State so it's not a totally foreign position for him.

We'll see if he can make it on the other side of the ball.
