We haven't heard yet of the Kansas City Chiefs releasing any players that were under contract so this may be the first. Nick Wright of 610 Sports reports CB Jackie Bates will be released.
Teams can officially release players at 3:00 p.m. (Arrowhead time) today.
Bates was one of the first undrafted free agents the Todd Haley and Scott Pioli regime picked up before the 2009 season. Before the '09 season, he was (released and then) signed to the Chiefs practice squad right where he spent the remainder of the season. According to the stats, he had just one tackle last season.
That's the first reported release of the Chiefs young free agency period. We'll see when they confirm some of these moves.
