We have our first report of a Kansas City Chiefs draft pick signing his contract. Aaron Wilson of FOX Sports reports Chiefs seventh round pick Yale FB Shane Bannon agreed to a four-year deal with a $51,000 signing bonus.
With the changes to rookie pay this year, Chiefs GM Scott Pioli said this week it shouldn't be as big of a problem getting rookies into camp on time, even with limited time to do the deals.
"I think the way that this system has been put together, it makes it pretty close to cut and dry," Pioli said at his Tuesday news conference. "There's minimums, maximums, not only for the rookie pool but each individual player, so hopefully it shouldn't be too challenging. It's reasonable to expect that."
According to Bannon's Twitter page, he's been in KC since Tuesday afternoon so he's probably ready to roll.
