First Look At Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said a few weeks ago on NFL Network that was "very interested" in finding out how his players have been doing during the NFL lockout. Speaking with the local media on Tuesday, Haley said he was excited to finally see some of the players.

We're assuming most of the Chiefs players have stayed in good shape during the lockout. There are, however, a few memories of Haley's first training camp in Kansas City when a number of players came into camp overweight. It was the story of training camp that year and the top headliner was WR Dwayne Bowe, who came in out of shape that year.

That's why I think it's fair to wonder what Bowe did in his offseason and whether he'll be prepared for training camp. The first impression, by the KC Star's Kent Babb, is a good one.

Chiefs WR Dwayne [Bowe] and LT Branden Albert are at charity event at a YMCA in north KC. Both look in good shape, particularly a svelte Bowe.

Well, I hope that's a sign of good news to come. Both those guys had weight issues before the 2009 season but it appears, at least by the judgment of a KC Star reporter, they may not have that issue this year. (Let's just hope Babb has good weight judgment.)

We'll find out later this week what Haley thinks of his offseason work.
