NFL Lockout: So The Players Will Or Won't Vote Today?

While it was just early this morning that it seemed that the players were expected to vote on the owners' proposal to end the NFL lockout, that actually may not be happening on Friday at all. It could filter into the weekend, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Kansas City Chiefs player rep Rudy Niswanger told 610 Sports' Bob Fescoe and Josh Klingler this morning that he hasn't even seen the deal yet. That would suggest a vote is something that's hours, if not days away.

Now, NFLPA president Kevin Mawae has issued a statement indicating that the players are discussing the proposal.

"Player leadership is discussing the most recent written proposal with the NFL, which includes a settlement agreement, deal terms and the right process for addressing recertification," the statement from Mawae reads.   "There will not be any further NFLPA statements today out of respect for the Kraft family while they mourn the loss of Myra Kraft."

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith is attending the funeral (which puts this whole thing into perspective).

So this thing could be dragging into the weekend once again but it's not necessarily a sign that things are going poorly. According to the NFLPA, they simply need the time to read over the thing.
