Chiefs Fans Say Bring Casey Wiegmann Back

The news came down yesterday from ESPN.com that C Casey Wiegmann will not retire and hopes to get another contract from the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2011 season. We weren't sure what Wiegmann's plans were so now we know that he wants to come back.

That's assuming the Chiefs want him back. We think they do but we can't be certain until Wiegmann signs along the dotted line.

What is clear is that Chiefs fans want him back in red next year.
We ran a poll yesterday asking if the Chiefs should bring Wiegmann back and 84 percent of the nearly 1,500 votes said, yes, the Chiefs should bring him back.

As fans, I don't think we're not alone in wanting Wiegmann back. Chiefs QB Matt Cassel was on 810 WHB's The Program with Soren Petro last week praising Wiegmann.

"Casey Wiegmann, his play speaks for itself," Cassel told Petro. "Last year he reached, which is an unbelievable stat, like 10,000 straight snaps. For any player in the NFL, let alone an offensive linemen in the trenches leaning on 300-pounder every single play, playing 10,000 straight snaps is such an amazing accomplishment. When you look at a guy like that, and you talk about size, he's obviously been doing something right for so many years.

"He's such a great guy to have in the locker room. He's really good for that offensive line."

Though he didn't explicitly say so, it certainly sounds like Cassel wants Wiegmann back.
