Kansas City Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel retired from the NFL on Monday morning after 14 years in the league. Here we will look back on some of the memories of his two-year stint with the Chiefs.
Back on February 27, 2009, we saw a report come across the wire that the Kansas City Chiefs had traded for LB Mike Vrabel. The move came with little fanfare mainly because we didn't know all the details of the trade.
On that day, Chris wrote, "The quality of this trade will depend entirely on what draft pick the Chiefs gave up for Vrabel." His write-up was pretty boring (sorry, Chris) because I'm not sure we knew the impact Vrabel would have in Kansas City.
But he was especially right about not knowing the details of the trade.
If you'll recall, the news on the Vrabel trade broke on Feb. 27. It wasn't until the following day, Feb. 28, that we knew QB Matt Cassel was included in the trade from the New England Patriots.
So there was a short time when we thought the Chiefs traded for just Vrabel and not Cassel.
