First reported by College Football Talk and later confirmed by 810 WHB and the Columbus Dispatch, Mike Vrabel is going back to the Ohio State University to join the football coaching staff, possibly at linebacker. Over the past couple of years, Vrabel hasn't been shy about saying that, if he ever gets into coaching, it would be at Ohio State.
So various reports say that Vrabel will leave the Kansas City Chiefs, retire from the NFL and join OSU's coaching staff with his former roommate and teammate, Luck Fickell.
One of the biggest questions this offseason has been what will be the future of Vrabel and now we know -- he's not coming back. It'll be up to Andy Studebaker and others to hold down the outside linebacker spot and I think they can do fine. Vrabel was definitely losing a step or two down the stretch so this may ultimately work out best for both parties.
We'll have a little more on Vrabel, his two years with the Chiefs and what he did while he was here. He had a strong impact on the early years of this, something that I think was a big help, and it deserves a look back at some of the most memorable moments.
