Last week we passed along the news that the Kansas City Chiefs would be heading back to Joplin to continue their efforts in the rebuild after the devastating tornado wiped out large portions of the city.
The NFL allowed the Chiefs to invite their players, despite the communication ban during the NFL lockout, and all non-player employees were expected to attend.
The trip to Joplin will take place on Thursday.
I spoke with Chiefs QB Matt Cassel last week and confirmed he would be attending. The Chiefs issued a release on Tuesday and announced the names of a few other players involved including WR Jonathan Baldwin, FB Shane Bannon, OL Rodney Hudson, S Reshard Langford, WR Dexter McCluster and LB Andy Studebaker.
Also attending will be owner Clark Hunt, GM Scott Pioli and President Mark Donovan and over 100 members of the front office.
KC Wolf and the Chiefs cheerleaders will also be attending.
In the morning, the group will be participating in some debris clean-up and in the afternoon they'll be interacting with the community, signing autographs and things like that.
