Well, well, well.
That story about a couple of Kansas City Chiefs players, including S Eric Berry, being involved in an advertisement for a party promoting the pornography industry?
Yeah, Berry didn't know anything about it. He didn't attend, didn't promote it and didn't approve of the use of his name or image for the party, according to his agent.
Berry's agent, Chad Speck, issued this statement to me shortly after we posted our initial blurb on the subject:
"Eric did not attend and had no knowledge of this event, and he certainly did not approve the use of his name and image in connection with the party."
Berry wasn't even in town when the party took place. He had come to Kansas City on Friday, May 20 -- the night of the party -- for a book signing with Inky Johnson the following day.
We're working on finding out a little more about what exactly happened here. We already know the league is investigating whether the advertisement violated the rules of showing players in uniform.
So, stand down Kansas City. Eric Berry isn't promoting porn parties.
