Good morning everyone. NJ Chiefs Fan just brought you the Kansas City Chiefs news, as he is known to do, so I decided to round up some AFC West news to spur some conversation.
I've gone around and gathered some links about what's going on with the Raiders, Chargers and Broncos. Check 'em out:
Oakland Raiders Head Coach Hue Jackson Talks Draft Picks - Silver And Black Pride
As it has been pointed out it is a lot like a former Raiders coach that resembled a doll with murderous intent. Hue recently sat down for a little chitty-chat with Gil Brandt on Sirus XM Radio. There is nothing to revelatory here, and Brandt really just lobs him some softballs, but this is the Raiders coach talking, and there is no other action in football to talk about. So, I am going over this interview for football nuggets like a crack head combing through his shag carpet.
2011 NFL Oakland Raiders Draft Results: My take on Wiz 2.0, Van Dyke and Jones - Silver And Black Pride
Greetings! Been too long since I've been here. Anyway, since I'm a complete and irredeemable draft geek, I thought I'd come share a few observations that I made of some of the Oakland Raiders draft picks, both during the season (I always take notes on top prospects intending to start a draft site which I never do) and from watching extended highlights on YouTube. This will be neither long nor very extensive, but I wanted to share.
PFW forecast Russell’s demise - Inside the Oakland Raiders - A look inside the world of the highly classified Oakland Raiders from the writers of Bay Area News Group
Perhaps they would have avoided the mistake entirely with the kind of research done by Pro Football Weekly’s Nolan Nawrocki, whose assessment of Russell in his 2007 draft guide was eerily acccurate. Nawrocki is the same guy who eviscerated Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, criticizing his "fake smile," calling him disingenuous and having an "enormous ego and sense of entitlement."
Chargers OLB Antwan Applewhite Arrested on DUI Charges - Bolts From The Blue
We've all been there, haven't we? You're out of work or school long enough on (forced) vacation and you end up just drinking to pass the time. I imagine that's what a bunch of these NFL players are dealing with, so it doesn't really come as a shock that another Charger has been involved in an alcohol-related offense.
There's a chance Steve Smith could end up being a Bolt - SignOnSanDiego.com
Chargers general manager A.J. Smith’s oft-cited commitment to the value of character does not rule out the team pursuing wide receiver Steve Smith.
A Peek Behind BFTB's Proverbial Curtain - Bolts From The Blue

I know, I know. I probably do the "peek behind the curtain" post too often for it to be interesting anymore. I don't care. Consider this an unofficial BFTB FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), because I feel the need to answer stuff when it gets asked a million times. Actually, I'll even organize it like an FAQ.
Denver Broncos quarterback quandary won't be solved soon - The Denver Post
So much of the correspondence and public discourse over the past few months, or at least since John Elway said at the Super Bowl that Kyle Orton was the Broncos' starting quarterback, has had to do with who should play quarterback for the local franchise and why.
Franklin brings mean streak to Broncos' O-line - Boulder Daily Camera
"It was real hard in Toronto," Franklin said. "I think that if I never moved from Toronto that I wouldn`t be in the position that I`m in today. Once I got to the U.S. it was not real hard because I got a lot of opportunities to play really early and I got on the field and got recruited by a bunch of teams."
After the Arizona Cardinals failed to select a quarterback in the draft, it appears they're planning to go after a veteran once free agency and trades can begin after the lockout. One signal caller they may be targeting is Denver's Kyle Orton, who has one year left on his contract with the Broncos.
Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. takes a pressure point look at Denver running back Knowshon Moreno. Williamson believes Denver needs to find a veteran to help Moreno after not addressing the position in the draft.
The flavor of the month - or the past six months - for the Denver Broncos and us fans is the trade of Kyle Orton - or the desire to trade him. I question this a bit, not because I think he should start for the Broncos, because I don't. No, I wonder if trading Orton, and being a high-ankle sprain away from the Brady Quinn era - is what Tim Tebow fans should be hoping for.
