As I've said a number of times, one of the most entertaining parts of the NFL draft is hearing the storie that come out in the days and weeks following the draft.
Today is not exception as we learn that at least one player was surprised when the Kansas City Chiefs didn't select him. Middle Tennessee State CB Rod Isaac says in an interview that he thought he was KC-bound:
When the 4th round went around, all the teams that said they were going to draft me didn't draft me. So then when the 5th round came and the Kansas City Chiefs were on the clock, I just knew they were going to pick me with that selection, but they didn't. They selected another cornerback.
He must be getting his rounds confused because the Chiefs actually selected that cornerback, Jalil Brown, in the fourth round. He later said he talked to the Chiefs, among a number of teams, before the draft. He was ultimately drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth.
I'm not sure there's much we can read into this. There are a lot of players the Chiefs are interested in and ultimately don't select. But it's interesting to see a small peek into the players they liked.
Check out the full interview. A few Chiefs mentions in there.
