Chiefs RB Thomas Jones Says Players Are Staying United During NFL Lockout

New, comments

The Sirius YouTube page has posted a video of Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones talking about mine safety and the NFL lockout on the 'Edge Of Sports' show. We're not sure when he was actually on Sirius but in the first week of May he was making several appearances regarding mine safety (his folks were miners) so I imagine it was then.

In the video above, Jones compares the United Mine Workers of America and the NFL Players Association saying both are about unity. Here's a little bit of what he said:

"This situation, it's unity. The players are united and we're saying, 'This is what we're asking for, we don't think it's too much, we think it's fair.' And then the owners have a right to feel say how they feel.

"One thing I can say is that despite all the distractions and the opportunity to sway away, for the most part, guys are staying united. Definitely trying to get something accomplished.

"For me, this is my 12th year in the league, I don't know how many more I'll play. I think it's important for the retired guys, which I will be soon, and for the younger guys that are coming in, that this is done the right way right now because you don't know when you'll get an opportunity like this."
