Chiefs Depth Chart Projection: DE Allen Bailey

The Kansas City Chiefs used their second third round pick on DE Allen Baileiy out of Miami. He's one of the most interesting Chiefs draft picks off the field and an interesting to one to figure out on the field as well.

I say interesting on the field because I'm not totally sure where Bailey fits.

It would appear he'd be a defensive end in the Chiefs 3-4 scheme but they already have DE Glenn Dorsey and DE Tyson Jackson -- both top five picks -- lined up there. Bailey would join that rotation along with DE Wallace Gilberry (and Shaun Smith?).

Perhaps the Chiefs are investing in their future with the Bailey selection. Remember, the Chiefs want to build through the draft which means at some point guys are going to leave via free agency. That's a possibility when you're thinking of someone like Dorsey.

I could be completely wrong but I envision Bailey similar to DE Wallace Gilberry, who is one of the Chiefs best pass rushers. The Chiefs reportedly gave Gilberry a second round tender so they could keep him (with the usual caveat that the new labor deal could change the rules). Bailey was productive when lining up on the inside at Miami and has demonstrated pass rush skills so I don't think he's one of those behemoths on the end of the line used to take up blockers.

Thoughts on where Bailey fits? I think he joins the defensive line rotation but I can't quite pin down exactly how he fits in.
