2011 NFL Mock Draft: The New England Patriots Select...

The 2011 Arrowhead Pride Mock Draft continues with averagegatsby choosing for the New England Patriots at No. 33...

So when I took the Patriots I was all excited about getting to make 2 picks in the first round... Then reality set in and I realized that I also had 2 picks in the second round, not to mention 2 of 6 picks, so Im getting a little tired of repeating team needs.

Should the draft go as this mock has gone the Patriots will have beefed up their Defensive line, and filled a huge need at Linebacker. At this point the Patriots biggest needs would be to get a good Half back who is versatile, but the Patriots probably will either wait or fill the need with another reclamation project as they have in the past. Also they still could target a WR who can stretch the field and open it up underneath for their second year tight ends and Welker, but I imagine they will put that off as well.

Instead I imagine the Patriots will continue to build their foundation, and will replace the freshly retired and starting Guard Stephen Neil.

So with the 33rd pick overall and the 1st pick of the second round the Patriots take:

Orlando Franklin, Guard from the U

Orlando Franklin is an absolute beast, possesses prototypical size at 6'5" 316 lbs., and in my not so humble opinion the best guard in the draft (since Im counting Pouncey as a Center). Franklin was a 4 year starter at Miami and even filled in at LT for one game during his Junior season, and did it well, and we all know how much the Patriots covet players with positional flexibility. Orlando Franklin will be able to come in and start right away for the Patriots, allowing them to not even skip a beat.
