How To Watch The 2011 NFL Draft Live Online

New, comments

TV coverage of the 2011 NFL Draft will be broadcast on ESPN and the NFL Network starting at about 8 p.m. (ET). I'm watching the NFL Network now and like ESPN, they're running plenty of draft coverage already today.

But what if you don't want to listen to Mel Kiper and Todd McShay? Or you don't even get the NFL Network through your cable provider? [Edit by Joel: Lookin' at you, Time Warner.]

Thankfully, like last year, the NFL Network is providing a free 2011 NFL Draft live stream on so fans can watch the draft online. You can find that stream at, which will start streaming the first round at 8 p.m. (ET).

Last year the quality was pretty good. You can even download the official media player which will stream the NFL draft at a higher quality than the web-only version.

What do I recommend you do? Have at least two feeds going, whether that be one on TV, one online or both on television. Before a draft pick is announced, you can pretty much tell who the pick is going to be by who the TV cameras zoom in on taking a phone call. Sometimes, one network won't catch the phone call and the other one will.

Anyone have a preference of NFL Network or ESPN?

Finally, let me check in one more time. What are you all doing for the draft? I'm going to be sitting here at the office, working away pretty much all night. Still, this is a fun time so I don't mind.

The first round of the 2011 NFL Draft starts at 8 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, April 28th and SB Nation has everything you need to prepare for it - NFL mock drafts, draft projections, scouting reports, the full NFL draft order and more. Check it all out at SB Nation's NFL Draft Hub and our NFL Draft blog Mocking the Draft.
