Arrowhead Pride has teamed up with Bud Light to bring you the top Kansas City Chiefs NFL draft successes and busts. We continue on with No. 8 most successful draft pick in Kansas City Chiefs history...

One trend I've noticed in the polls we do here is that modern and current Kansas City Chiefs players tend to get a disproportional amount of the votes. This is partly because blog readers tend to be on the younger side of 50-years old and plus people vote for the names they know.

But in the poll asking you about the biggest Chiefs' draft successes last week, CB Brandon Carr garnered a decent share of the votes.

And it's not because people are familiar with his name.

Brandon Carr was drafted out of Grand Valley State in the 5th round of the 2008 NFL Draft. In his three seasons as a Chief, Carr has started every single game. Every single one. He's nabbed four interceptions and recovered six fumbles for the Chiefs.

Carr's is on this list because of the value he offered as a 5th round pick. Carr has had a comparable career to the Chiefs' other cornerback selected in the '08 draft - Brandon Flowers. Flowers only has three more picks than Carr and actually has not recorded a fumble recovery.

Compared to the cornerbacks taken in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft, Brandon Carr's 48 starts are just an incredible value. Check out the number of starts for the defensive backs taken in the first round:

  • Leodis McKelvin - 22 starts;
  • Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - 43 starts;
  • Aqib Talib - 28 starts;
  • Mike Jenkins - 34 starts;
  • Antoine Cason - 19 starts; and,
  • Kenny Phillips - 20 starts.

Among the many definitions of an NFL Draft success, value is why Brandon Carr is on this list.
