The 2011 Arrowhead Pride Mock Draft continues with Another Successful Tedford QB choosing for the San Francisco 49ers at No. 45....
Sir Harbaugh will focus on the defensive side of the ball throughout this draft. The Niners actually have some nice pieces on offense and Jimmy seems lunatic enough to believe Alex Smith deserves another chance (or he knows the formula: 16 starts for A Smith = #1 draft pick in 2012 = Andrew Luck!) Couple that with the fact that SEVEN QB's have been selected already...and there is just no way SF reaches on a QB here.
With Patrick Peterson shoring up the secondary, the team by the Bay looks to add a rush 3-4 linebacker to help out P Willis, the best defensive player in all of football.
With the 45th pick in the 2011 ArrowheadPride Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select:
Sam Acho, DE/OLB, University of Texas
Sir Harbaugh will love this kid for his brains. Acho recently won the William V Campbell Trophy (nation's top football student athlete), the Wuerffel Trophy (all-around excellence in athletic, academic and community achievement), and the ARA Sportmanship Award. He was named a two-time Academic All-American, named one of Sporting News "20 Smartest Athletes" and graduated in December from the business honors program at the McCombs School of Business.
The Niners D-coordinator and scouts will actually like this kid for his football abilities. As a Lott Trophy semifinalist as a Senior, Acho recorded 59 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, nine sacks, 18 pressures, 5 forces fumbles and five fumble recoveries (the five fumble recoveries led the nation and tied a UT single-season record). Acho tore up Nate Solder at the Senior Bowl and likely shot up a lot of team's draft boards since this class is obviously lacking a ton of elite rush linebackers.
One final thing for those of you Midwesterners that don't pay attention...Mack Brown is a shady weasel and represents everything that is wrong with college football. Aaron Rodgers, Jeff Tedford and the Cal Nation deserve our 2004 Rose Bowl. We'll never forget your ridiculous campaigning ways you piece of scum.
