Wow. I did not see this one coming at all.
According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, former Kansas City Chiefs coach Marty Schottenheimer is on the verge of joining the UFL's Virginia team. The Destroyers relocated from Florida to Virginia this year.
If true...wow. That's a shock.
I always felt there was a place for Marty in the NFL and if I were starting a franchise and needed someone to turn it around into a winner, Marty would be on my short list. I'm not saying he'll win you playoff games or put you in the Super Bowl but he can turn a franchise around.
I'm not sure why he would make this move. Is it because there's not a place for him in the NFL? Is it because he wants to coach in a less stressful environment like the UFL?
I'm going to go ahead and mark down the Virginia Destroyers as the next UFL champion. Marty will get that ring.
