The 2011 NFL Combine in winding down in Indianapolis. We're on the last day which will feature the defensive backs.
The top two cornerbacks right now are LSU's Patrick Peterson and Nebraska's Prince Amukamara. Peterson is expected to be drafted first, possibly as high as the top five, while Amukamara is hoping to move his way into the top 10.
Will the Chiefs be keeping an eye on some of these cornerbacks?
I'd imagine so but that's also an area they addressed heavily in 2010. The Chiefs drafted three defensive backs in the 2010 NFL draft -- S Eric Berry (1st round), CB Javier Arenas (2nd round) and S Kendrick Lewis (5th round). In 2009, they spent a 4th round draft pick on CB Donald Washington (who has since been seeing time at safety).
Like linebackers, defensive backs are often on special teams so even if the Chiefs won't be drafted a starter, they'll still be checking out the prospects that could be available later in the draft, or as an undrafted free agent (if the NFL owners and players ever get it together and come to an agreement on a new labor deal).
Any cornerbacks out there you've got your eye on today?
