Arrowheadlines: Chiefs News 2/8

New, comments

NJ Chiefs Fan is having technical difficulties (which he told me about yesterday, which I promptly forgot this morning, which is why Arrowheadlines is so late today).

Here's your short version of Arrowheadlines:

Bob Gretz: Chiefs Without 2011 Contracts: Over the Super Bowl weekend the NFL Players Associated released the names of all the NFL players who do not have contracts for the 2011 season. That list included 25 members of the Chiefs. Their futures remain up in the air with the current unsettled labor situation.

Arrowhead Addict: Big Matt's Chiefs Chat: In Pioli We Trust?: People have been heaping praise on Scott Pioli from the second he got here. He was immediately declared a personnel genius. His drafting, which none of us knew anything about beforehand, was proclaimed a specialty. His approval rating on Arrowheadpride has always been ridiculously high. Hell, on this very site last week one of our commenters said Pioli "won 3 Super Bowls."

KC Star: Texas Sports Hall Of Fame Induction: "I got a chance to play against Drew a few times, and I thought he was a fantastic receiver," said Thomas, who was a defensive back for the Chiefs from 1966-78 and now is the Chiefs secondary coach. "I think he will get his opportunity. I just hope he doesn't have to wait as long as I did, but it's better late than never."

Next up for Raiders: Finding a D-coordinator - Inside the Oakland Raiders
Perry and Moss are both believed be coaches of interest as Hue Jackson looks to fill out his staff, with no hard evidence other than a previous link to the organization. There are also defensive coordinator openings in Arizona and Tennessee, with Philadelphia switching offensive line coach Juan Castillo to defensive coordinator last week.

After the Super Bowl, New CBA Has Large Implications for the Denver Broncos - Mile High Report
You can read into this what you will, but to me, this says two things:

1. The Broncos feel like they will be "stuck" with the #2 pick if there is no CBA

2. The Broncos could be interested in trading the pick if there IS a new CBA

2011 Free Agents: Kansas City Chiefs - Bolts From The Blue
Although the Kansas City Chiefs are a team that was built relatively quickly, mostly through the draft, they somehow managed to have a number of very important players that are up for free agency this offseason. Here are some of the more notable players who could be wearing a new jersey in 2011:

Jaguars release veteran offensive lineman Jordan Black |
The nine games Jordan Black started for the Jaguars last season didn't show the team enough. Jacksonville released the veteran offensive tackle on Monday and signed first-year center Bradley Vierling, who spent all of the 2010 season on the practice squad, to a contract for the 2011 season.
