We've got another 2011 NFL Combine interview to add to the list: Mississippi NT Jerrell Powe. According to former Northwestern football player Andrew Struckmeyer reporting from Indy, Powe has met with the Chiefs, Ravens and Broncos. Upcoming meetings are scheduled with the Dolphins and Raiders.
According to NFL Draft Scout, Powe is the 11th best defensive tackle in the 2011 NFL Draft. He's a big player too - 6'2" and 330 pounds. Powe started 12 games at nose tackle for the Rebels in 2010, amassing 27 tackles (8.5 for a loss) and 2.5 sacks. He is projected to go in the third round of the draft.
Powe was also selected by his teammates as the Rebels' 2010 team captain.
This won't be the last nose tackle prospect we'll hear about. The Chiefs, like virtually every team that employs a 3-4 defense, will always be looking at nose tackles.
