The 2011 NFL draft is a couple of months away and we've heard from Mel Kiper, Todd McShay and Mike Mayock on who the Kansas City Chiefs might select. Early predictions for the Chiefs 21st pick include offensive linemen, linebackers and wide receivers though that's all subject to change (and change again) with the NFL Combine and potentially free agency if a new labor deal is worked out.
So here's a curveball this morning: What if the Chiefs had the top pick? What if they were picking No. 1 instead of the Carolina Panthers? Who would the Chiefs take?
At the top of the draft, you've got names like DT Nick Fairley, WR A.J. Green and DE Da'Quan Bowers. There are a couple of quarterbacks like QB Blaine Gabbert and QB Cam Newton as well as CBs like Patrick Peterson.
Where would the Chiefs go?
My pick would be Green, the Georgia receiver. There's never a sure thing when it comes to the NFL draft but Green appears to be one of the closest this year. The Chiefs focus has been making sure QB Matt Cassel has the right coaching staff and, when the draft and/or free agency starts, the focus will continue to be on making sure Cassel can succeed.
The first step in doing that would be to give him a playmaker and, in this draft, that would be Green.
So what do you think? Where do the Chiefs go if they have the No. 1 pick?
