Sounds like the Kansas City Chiefs don't plan to give punt/kick returner extraordinaire Devin Hester much work today. Chiefs head coach Todd Haley talked with Mitch Holthus on the Hy-Vee Chiefs Insider Show and said they plan to play some "keep away" with the Chicago Bears record-setting return man.
"One of the bigger challenges we'll face as far as special teams go," Haley said of Hester. "There are no guarantees when you're punting that ball or kicking it off and there are a lot of variables that can affect it.
"We've worked real hard and feel like we have a good plan on how to play a little keep away with him and, if we don't get it exactly right, have it covered. Every play is going to count, as usual, but even a little more so."
Not kicking to someone is easy to say but it's not always so easy to execute when you face the possibility of giving up field position to avoid kicking to him.
We'll see how the Chiefs do in this category but, as Todd Haley said when he first arrived in Kansas City, the Chiefs do have a pretty good punter.
