Kirk Ferentz's Statement On Staying At Iowa

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz has released a statement confirming what we already knew -- he intends to stay at Iowa next year. This comes despite speculation that the Kansas City Chiefs vacancy could interest him.

The statement:

"To emphasize what I have said previously, I am very happy at Iowa," Ferentz said in a prepared statement. "We have a great staff and group of student athletes, and we receive outstanding support from president Sally Mason and director of athletics Gary Barta. I fully intend to be at Iowa next year and well beyond 2012."

Ferentz is connected to a lot of jobs every year so Iowa fans don't think twice about these rumors but I would guess the Chiefs job is a little more attractive to him than others due to the proximity and GM Scott Pioli, which might be why he needed a statement to clarify he's staying.
